The words of Charles F. Kettering, “My interest in the future is because I am going to spend the rest of my life there” vividly encapsulates the bold step taken by the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to enhance the operational capacities of administrative staff of the mission.
The church recently hosted its annual empowerment programme, a conference for Administrators and Computer Secretaries working with the Mission across the country, at the Redemption Camp.
Some administrators from other African countries were also at the conference, which has over 500 workers of the church in attendance.
The programme, with the theme, “Emerging technologies in information and communication”, was meant to sharpen the management skill of the workers to enable them remain relevant in the RCCG system.
The conference, which kicked off on Sunday, was blessed with the presence of the RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who charged the participants to be transparent in their operations by ensuring they don’t engage in making money they cannot spend.
Noting the strategic position administrators occupied in the organisation, Adeboye charged them to ensure that everything they do is in conformity with the will of God.
Expectedly, various speakers spoke during the conference on challenging topics, which include Overcoming Computer and Workplace Stress Management; Managing Expectations in the Workplace.
Others are: Personnel Database Management; Public Speaking and Appearances Etiquette in the Workplace; People Management; Value Drivers in the Information and Communication Age; Performance Metrics; RCCG and e-reporting.
In his welcome address, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Admin and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, admonished administrators on the necessity of vision for their work.
He charged them to put plan for their work in place and to have passion for the job and step out of the box and do things they love to do to bring out the best in them.
He said, “The programme focused on sharpening the skills of our administrators. We bring them brought from all over the country to be able to put some fire in them and let them go and work it out. Of course, we also encourage those who work in the trouble territory in the north.
On the relevance of technology to administration, Odesola stressed that the world has become a global village and it is almost impossible to do anything in the present age without technology.
“As an organisation, we cannot pretend about this technological breakthrough. We deal with people, information, money and details. So, technology is at the core of our operations such that we can’t close our eyes to it.
