To say, Elegushi Beach has become one of the most popular and natural fun spots to visit in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial and entertainment hot bed; is stating the obvious. The beach, a private initiative located just off the heavily tolled Lekki-Epe Expressway, was a fun place to be during the Easter break.

It was a cacophony of both the karaoke and organized entertainment as different acts took positions on the beach to thrill those who took advantage of the holiday to relax and have fun at the beach.

This feeling of excitement was further amplified by the presence of Guinness Nigeria Plc which took advantage of the weather and holiday to unveil and introduce its latest product, Orijin to its teeming consumers.

Aware of the power of entertainment, the beverage giant lined up music icons like Burna Boy, delectable Seyi Shay and Afro hip hop star, Oritsefemi whose Double Wahala single modeled after Fela’s iconic song of the same title, continues to burn the charts on radio and TV to lure and entertain visitors to the beach.

Trust fun loving Nigerians, it was fun unlimited as people took advantage of the public holiday to party all night long.

Ace comedian, Bovi Ugboma, whose deserved rise in the comedy section of the Nigerian entertainment industry is described in remarkable terms, also ensured there were no dull moments as he drew smiles, laughter and applauses from those present with his matured selections of jokes and other entertainments.

Aside the creative manner he handled the fans, splashing jokes and spontaneous comic scenes on them in his inimitable manner, Bovi brought his much-talked about commendable stage presence to bear on the concert which dragged late into the early hours of the next day.

Not too strange, many guests and music lovers did not seem to mind the talented Bovi indulging them. He started with a rap battle he organized for those who had rap talent in the audience. The winner went home with some thousands of Naira.

Once done with the rap battles, which pitched a Surulere up-and-coming rap act with another from the much-vilified Ajegunle part of Lagos, the results and process of determining winners through the audience served up interesting spectacles. Surprisingly, young women at the event appeared not ready for the rap part of the competition, somewhat forcing Bovi, who was mindful of maintaining a gender balance, to turn his attention to dance competitions.

All that was soon brought to a halt when the man behind the wheel of steel, as Disc Jockeys call their tools, DJ Spin All, took over the spotlight. Dishing out songs in a way that wowed the audience, and at the same time prompting them to name the songs and performers for token gifts, Spin All displayed ample dexterity like his more accomplished peers like DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Humility and others.

However, things took a different turn with Burna Boy mounted the stage. Launching straight into ‘Run my race,’ one of his hit tracks, he spent sometime on stage, doing his best to carry fans along with other songs like ‘Yawa Dey, ‘Abeg abeg’ and ‘No be by force.’

And with members of the vast audience, stretching far into the ocean’s where some people stayed to enjoy a vintage view of the stage as well as pure ocean breeze, Bovi did not waste time before introducing the next act for the night; a female singing sensation currently making inroads into the Nigerian music industry, known as Seyi Shay who recently returned from the United Kingdom. She thrilled her fans with songs like ‘Irawo,’ ‘No lele,’ ‘Loving your way’ and others.

Unarguably the best act of the day, was saved for the last. The crowd went ecstatic when it was the turn of Oritse Femi to go on stage. It was indeed a different ball game as everybody tried to get as close as possible to the stage.

Dishing out his hit songs one after the other and capping it all up with the massive hit, ‘Double Wahala,’ Femi was the fans’ favourite all through his inspired performance that night.
