The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has reiterated the essence of forgiveness, even as he identified pride, jealousy as causes of downfall, loss of societal or spiritual relevance, hence the term relic.
Adeboye stated this while delivering a sermon on “Signs of Change”, the theme of the 23rd Apapa Family Anniversary celebration held at Tafawa Balewa Square TBS, last Sunday.
Driving home his point, he sighted the cases of King Nebuchadnezzar, King Saul, Micah (King David’s wife) and a friend of his who suffered degrees of setbacks because of forgiveness, pride, jealousy even mockery.
Citing King Nebuchadnezzar, the man of God said the king was proud for God’s liking, and he was turned into an animal by God. And not until after seven years before he regained his senses.
On King Saul, the cleric mentioned him as a person who suffered negative change as a result of disobedience.
The Overseer warned on the danger of mockery, giving the case of Micah who the bible recorded as the only barren woman due to she mocking her husband, David.
He also pointed the case of his late friend who picked offence over a message he preached and chose to withdraw from his promise of supplying participants breakfast at one of the conventions. He later lost his possessions and thereafter became a relic.
Adeboye appealed to the congregation to shun pride, disobedience, mockery and forgiveness to avoid being a relic.
