ACE comedian, Okey Bakassi, was a sad man last week. He was so sad he took to his Blackberry messenger and sent a broadcast message that was when the heavy rain was falling: “The weather and DSTV’s poor signal due to the rains have combined to rob me of watching President Obama make one of the greatest speeches of his presidency! So sad.”
He sent a ‘formal’ letter to the Pay TV Company a day after: LETTER TO DSTV
“Thanks for coming to Nigeria to improve our television experience. Though your services are not as good as we want it but I’m grateful that you’re able to provide the services that our “people in position” can’t provide despite the billions of Naira they have embezzled.
“I have noticed that you promptly switch me off anytime my subscription expires, no problem. I have renewed my subscription to enable me enjoy the World.
“You are also aware that the World Cup will be played during the rainy season, please don’t tell me you did not prepare.
“If I experience any loss of signal during an important World Cup match or frozen screen, it will not be funny oh.
“If during a penalty shootout my TV loses signal due to rain or bad weather, you will see me in your office. You know it will be raining and you still collected my money.
“As I’m sending you this letter now, I don’t have signal on my TV just because it looks like it will rain. However, I’ll not react now because the World Cup has not started …..hmmmm chai!
Thanks again in anticipation of your understanding. Please let us avoid a #BringBackourSignal Protest.
Truly yours,
@okeybakassyv
