Fela inspired Double Wahala –Oritsefemi

Music act, Ekele Majemite Oritsefemi, has been receiving quite a number of awards since his song titled Double Wahala hit town.

In a ceremony which took place two weeks ago he won the Popular Song of the Year award from a category which had Sean Tizzle, Olamide and Tiwa Savage. In another event, he also won in Most Popular Song of the Year category.

In a chat with Klieg Light Oritsefemi revealed that his inspiration for Double Wahala was from the late afrobeat maestro, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

In his word, “many people have asked why I am yet to dedicate an award to the source of my inspiration for the song, well this is it. I dedicate this award to Fela for inspiring me.”

Furthermore, he said, “I didn’t believe that I was the winner until the award was presented to me on the stage. I appreciate God for the talents he gave me and everybody who has made this happen to me.”

This is coming just months after the Delta State born singer won Islanders Artiste of the Year award.

Since Double Wahala dropped, it has been one of the most played songs in clubs and get together.

The singer, who started his career as a member of a two-man band, The Junglist, has released several albums such as Elewon which concentrated on crooked politicians. His second was titled Wicked World. It contained a smash hit, mercies of the lord. Then he dropped his third album titled Unfadeable. Unfadeable featured Pasuma Wonder, 2Face Idibia, Dagin and Nico Gravity. His fourth was titled Musical Taliban.

Currently the artiste is gearing up to release his fifth album which has the track Double Wahala, a hit which was recently remixed by Oristefemi and D’banj.

Oritsefemi, has performed alongside international artistes like Trey Songz, Kenye West, Akon, Makifisolo, Awilo and others.
