The private screening of Dare Fasasi’s (popularly known as Baba Dee) comedy movie Head Gone was held last Thursday at Genesis Deluxe Cinema and many people applauded him for a brilliant work. The movie directed by him takes an ironic and amused look at the socio-political framework of Nigeria. Rather a satire than a comedy, it sheds light on existential questions of the human condition. It casts a long pondering look at mental illness. Dare Fasasis’ debut as a director boasts an impressive cast list which features some of Nigeria’s finest actors, musicians and comedians.
The 110 minutes movie is a Nigerian comedy movie with Socio-Political lacing, great cast line-up, great cinematography and an impressive comic storyline.
On a sunny day a bus starts its journey with mentally ill people to a Psychiatric Hospital. On the other side of the city a gang prepares an armed assault on its clueless victim. Somewhere else, a group of prisoners get transferred to another prison.
Bizarre and hilarious situations and scenes arise out of the clash of the psychiatry bus with the armed robbers, their victims and the prison transport.
The star-stud movie which according to Baba Dee will be shown at the cinema on November 22 features stars like : 2Face, Alibaba, Zack Orji, IK Osakioduwa, Basketmouth, Aluwe, Peter Fatomilola, Eniola Badmus, Basorge Tariha, Sound Sultan, Akpororo, Wale Ojo, Peter Fatomilola, Hazeez Oyetoro, Baba Dee, Segun Adefila, Tunde Obalana and many more.
Speaking with journalists on the movie, Baba Dee said, “it is a socio-political film about Nigeria and about the situation we find ourselves. It spoke about corruption, malpractice, greed and everything that is negative.
I started production in January but pre-production has been for about six years. It is an all-star casts and we have to manage their time.”
The Theatre Arts graduate from the University of Ibadan however confessed that it was not easy featuring A-list entertainers in the movie but the script attracted all the artistes and so it was easy.
“I gave them the synopsis and when I gave them they were impressed; aside that, we have a very good relationship with the celebrities as they were very wonderful.
