Ghanaian actress who doubles as a singer and an entrepreneur, Juliet Ibrahim made her film debut in Crime to Christ, 2007 co-starring Majid Michel one of Ghana’s brightest male acts. Her launch into the celeb world started with a modelling career as a runway and editorial model; modelling for some big designer brands in Ghana.  Senior Reporter, Anthonia Soyingbe recently had a chat with her and she spoke on some interesting issues.

What are some of you resolutions for 2015?

Juliet Ibrahim

Juliet Ibrahim

I choose goals instead of resolutions because many people make resolutions without keeping it. I choose not just goals but realistic goals. With hard work I will achieve my goals this year but most importantly I need God because 2015 will be a very busy year for me. In 2014, I was able to put smiles on people’s faces, got to host events in Nigeria and in America, in fact it was an amazing year, what more would I have asked for.

How do you intend to earn trust with your foundation because many foundations like yours have not gone far over the years due to integrity?

Juliet Ibrahim (JIF) I am bold to say is very genuine and it is not a money-making venture. We doing nothing but charity and so we put to use whatever we get into charity. I am also bold to say that most of the aid we give out are funded prom my purse. We are still soliciting for help and financial aid because a lot of people with their ailments are in dire need of help; they need to pay for regular dialysis while some need kidney transplants. It’s always exhausting as it drains their strength as well as their pockets. JIF was quite active, we organised a Charity event and the proceeds were donated to five people suffering from Kidney related ailments to ease their pain. We were active about awareness of the Ebola virus and even recorded an Ebola awareness song.

How did you manage to gain acceptance in Nollywood such that people hardly see you as a Ghanaian?

Honestly I can’t answer that question because I don’t know how it happened but it is a seamless relationship. You are right I do more of Nollywood movies and it will amaze you that I infuse Nollywood into movies I produce. I have produced two movies till date, ‘The Number One Fan’ and ‘Shattered Romance’ and in both movies, I featured Nollywood stars. I feel as comfortable in Nigeria as I feel in Ghana and I have fan bases in both countries so it’s pretty easy to premiere my movies in Nigeria. It’s not an issue at all for me.

Do you have any plan to take your music career to another level this year?

By God’s grace I will have some collaboration this year and it is going to be something major.  Trust me it will be fresh and different.

Can you tell us some of the artistes you are likely to feature?

I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag now. Just keep your fingers crossed as I will surprise my fans.

Were you contented with the acceptance of your debut track?

My first track ‘Celebrate’ didn’t do bad at all, what with its catchy tune and nice melody, it is a happy and celebratory song and considering the fact that it was my first attempt, I would give myself a pat on the back.

Any plan to remarry this year after your divorce last year?

Please let us leave some issues out of this interview.

Which role will you say is the most challenging since you started featuring in movies over a decade ago?

It was when I acted Princess Rihanna because I acted the role of a Snake princess and my colleagues had to stay in the same vicinity with snakes while filming that movie. I also had to hold a live squirrel in my hand for over 30 minutes in that movie and pretended that I was about to eat it. Acting has been interesting for me over the years because there is always something to learn daily.

What was your growing up like?

I grew up travelling from one country to another with my family because my father was a businessman in West Africa and each time there was war in any of those countries we lived in, we had to relocate and escape for survival to another country. So, growing up wasn’t that much fun for us because we kept losing almost everything we acquired along the line. However, we thank God for our lives every day and how far he has brought me in life today.
