During the week, the African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards(AMVCA) had a big brunch event to celebrate the nominees for the awards,. The event which held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lagos had the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry in attendance including members from the business community including the sponsors of the event.

The event kicked off later than was advertised but the guest who came early were to dinks on the red carpet which was more like a networking opportunity for those in attendance. By the time the event kicked off, the Ball Room was filled up. according to Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, the Regional Director, West Africa who spoke at the event, the movie maker are those who make the event a success every year and she urged them to keep making films that will make the continent proud. She also thanked the sponsors of the event especially Amstel Malta and MTN
The AMVCA proper will hold next Saturday at the Eko Hotel in Lagos. Movie makers from across Africa will be in the country to take part in the annual event. AMVCA started off three years ago, to reward excellence in African Cinema and Television. Though it is not the first platform to do this, AMVCA has within a short time gain recognition and respect.
