The unveiling of the top 12 contestants of music reality show Nigerian Idol Season 5 might be the high point of the programme presently.
However, another talking point is the comment of Dede Mabiaku, one of the judges on the show.
During the screening of the final 12 contestants of the show, judges were asked their opinion on who should make the final cut, however, as they predicted, their predictions seemed to go against that of the voters.
Each time Mabiaku picked a contestant to make the cut due to his or her previous week performance, the person ends up been evicted.
At a point, a frustrated Mabiaku slammed voters of the show saying, “value is what we are looking for, but it has been thrown overboard.” Mabiaku placed emphasis on the fact that since the voters have decided to throw away quality contestant and save the bad ones, they can have it their way.
The top 12 contestants include Oyinkepreye Toun with stage name Preye, Ogunmoyero Modoluwamu also known as Dolu,Victor Ekeoma popular as Prime and Esther Aritheshoma Monday aka Sther.
Others are Godson Goodluck popular as Classiq Tunez, Omodele Diana Fatoki, Ada Brenda Adigwe, Imuetiyan Ese-Amadasun, Paul Manuwa, Janet Ebiwari Ayoka, Margaret Uloma Okemiri, and Kunle Ogunrombi.
The winner of this year’s competition will be crowned in June and will be awarded the sum of N7.5 million cash, a brand new car and a recording deal with Universal Music Company worth N7.5 million, amongst other prizes.
