“It is a good thing that people see me as sexy, I think it is a testimony that God has really blessed me, and God is a perfect creator. I act any part I am given in a movie, if you see me taking it to the extreme, that means I am taking my work very seriously. In real life, I am a cool calm and reserved person, you can ask those that are close to me,” she says.

With such appealing body one may wonder if she got to the movie industry by doing some ‘favours’. She laughed when asked, “I am a female, I am still relatively new to this movie industry and I have done, many movies without any director or producer asking to sleep with me.  To be sincere with you, all the negative things I have heard about the challenges of females entering the movie industry is what other people have said but not what I have experienced. I don’t want to judge based on the negative things I have heard. I have heard people say that movie directors and producers would want to sleep with an actress before they give her a role but I have never experienced that and I don’t even know anyone who has personally experienced that.”

Fatima is also a movie producer, she recently released her own movie, Aliya. “I have climbed from just acting and now I am a producer, yet I have not seen or come across some of those things you hear when you are outside the industry about movies not doing well these days. I think anyone who really wants to do movies should not be scared or deterred by some of these reports,” she says.

The actress who has features in over 15 movies has a dual Nationality; Ghana and Nigeria, but schooled in Ghana. She entered the movie industry in 2012 and is currently making strides in the industry. Talking about the movie she says, “Aliya is doing well. My team plans to show it in Kumasi either in June. We are still working on the exact date but I would want to wait for a final date before I put the information in the media. What is certain, however, is that it will be premiering in Kumasi pretty soon.”

Fatima is also known for her charity work which she does both in Ghana and Nigeria. “Fame comes with a lot of goodwill from even persons you do not know. I am of the view that the fame we enjoy should go beyond red carpet photo shoots and waving to fans everywhere we go. Rather we should be seen using our fame and influence to raise and gather some help for people in need.

“Sometimes we overlook such little things but they go a long way in making changes in the lives of people. There are children who only need school bags just to encourage them to remain in school. Some need food, some do not have socks, shoes or even basic things like mathematical sets, exercise books, or even a role model they can look up to for inspiration; and those of us who have some goodwill and fame stand a better chance of influencing society, companies and even individuals to donate some of these things,” Fatima explains.

She said such gestures of charity should be a regular thing but not an annual event reserved for Easter, Christmas or Salah periods only. When Fatima, who is a Muslim actress was asked whether as a celebrity she was using her influence to set an example to other celebrities she say, “by my training, doing Zakat(charity) is compulsory and even before I entered showbiz, it was part of me and I can say God has blessed me for it. Soon I will be at the Asokore-Mampong school for the physically challenged in Ghana. I do same at the least opportunity. I know many of our celebs are also involved in charity projects but a larger percentage of us are not into that.”
