A lot of not too pleasant stories have been written and said about Reggae Icon, Majek Fashek since he returned to the country from his Bronx, American base. Some attribute his predicament to hard drugs, others spiritual while some see his woes as a result of reckless and irresponsible lifestyle. Whatever the case may be, all is not well with the multi talented artiste.

Majek Fashek
This may account to the way he conducted himself on Sunday at the birthday bash of top music label owner, Uzo Omenka Day, CEO, Miracle Day Music. Held at the roof top of the posh residence of Omenka in Magodo, the celebrant and guests were having a ball as a juju musician was entertaining guests but when it was the turn of Majek, the scenario changed. Looking scraggy, unkept and thin with his oversize boots and dropping pants which he tried almost unsuccessfully to stay put to his waist, he finally with an effort, mounted the podium to sing. Having downed many bottles of stout and another hard drink with a pack of Benson and Hedges cigarette in between his finger, he managed close to 30 minutes, to render Bob Marley’s ‘Mystic Feeling,’ and another valuable time to do one of his popular songs,’ Mother’ and finally, ‘Likkle Patience’. Between when he began to sing and when he was forced out of the premises, he was busy harassing the women at the event. If not for his personality, he would have been dealt with as he was busy trying to fondle the bevy of beauties who attended the occasion but when he held the microphone and played the guitar one cannot but still appreciate the bundle of talent, that is gradually wasting away.
This page is joining Chief Tony Okoroji and other good spirited Nigerians to come to the aid of this national icon. At the moment, Majek is homeless, and in dire need of medical attention. Please you can contribute to this course by making your donations to the ‘Majek Fashek Fund’, Account-0065103921, Diamond bank. May God bless you as you help in bringing Majek back to his old self.
