Titled, Future Forward, the organisers of the Lights, Camera, Africa Film Festival have announced the dates for the fifth edition holding this year. The event will be holding in October at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Future Forward they say will be bigger than all previous festivals held.

“Future Forward is an assembly of bold and energetic pieces of African and independent cinema that portray the intrepid spirit that characterises the force that propels us and feeds our imperative to go forth, with certainty and to succeed. This spirit is illustrated on the continent through constant movement in various fields of endeavour. This movement is marked by a purposeful quest for achieving a higher self. It is illustrated by a country that has elected a new political dispensation,” Ugoma Adegoke, the director of the festival said.

Adegoke also implores visitors to the festival to look forward to a wonderful screening programme dedicated to the best of independent African film as well as family and educational offerings through workshops, panel discussions, talks and family-friendly programming. There will also be visual, literature and musical showcases, fun after-parties and the very popular Festival Souk during our 5-day fiesta.

“The film programme at The Life House and Lights, Camera, Africa Film Festival is proud to continue what has become an enduring partnership with the African Film Festival New York during this milestone year. This partnership has at its core a mission to expose African and global audiences to good quality independent African cinema with a view to stimulating discourse on issues and experiences rooted in the African experience. We are also proud to be partners of the Ford Foundation and to receive their financial and strategic support. We continue to thrive and delight in the longstanding relationships with a number of organizations including Goethe Institut, the Royal African Society (RAS) London, Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), British Council, Alliance Française, VAN Lagos and The New Black Film Collective,” Adegoke concludes.
