Greed, unrighteousness, corruption and covetousness among the political class and Nigerians in general have been identified as the bane of the country’s development and must be cured, if the nation is to make headway.

The above statement was made by Prophet Oladipupo Funmilade-Joel, the Presiding Overseer, The Way of Reconciliation Evangelistic Ministries (TWOREM) International, Prophetic and Solution Chapel, Lagos, Nigeria, stated this in a statement, consequent upon the rate of corruption, and societal problems confronting the nation.

Popularly called Baba Sekunderin , the cleric called on President Muhammadu Buhari–led federal government to map out people’s friendly policies for equitable distribution of wealth and grassroots development with emphasis on agriculture by diversifying the economy from the oil sector.

Funmilade-Joel, who decried the nonchalant attitude of Christians and Nigerians, as regards the nation’s polity and the society at large, condemned hypocrisy which he said is not good for Christians, noting that God’s judgment awaits everyone on the last day.

The cleric further tasked religious leaders to always strengthen the faithful and search for the indifferent and weak souls and preach the word of God with vigour and dedication in accordance with the ways of God, as well as to, uphold the truth of the gospel at all times by guiding against error.

According to the cleric, “Nigerians irrespective of their faith should not relent in praying for Nigeria, for the peace and progress of the nation, good governance, God-fearing leaders and followers, for, prayer changes things, as the altar of prayer is the altar of change.”

He however attributed the numerous problems facing the country to the various sins and shamelessness being committed by both the leaders and followers. He added that unless Nigerians turn to God and do His will, no amount of measures taken will solve the nation’s problems.

The cleric who added that Nigeria is suffering from self-induced poverty, brought upon the people by successive leadership, which never had the care of the people at heart, despite the abundant natural resources, lamented that, many infrastructural facilities have broken down, power supply not stable, roads across the country are in terrible shapes, hospitals not fully equipped, unemployment is on the increase and so on, hence the totality is as a result of bad leadership.

He however tasked other religious leaders to always pray for the nation’s leaders, so that, they will be able to overcome every obstacle on the way and lead well.

According to him, by this, Nigeria can attain greatness, peace and blessing.
