ASUSS flays Lagos On sustainability Of Two Colleges Of Education

The Acting President, Academic Staff Union Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Lagos State chapter, Comrade Kazeem Labaika has tasked the Lagos State government on the effective management of two colleges of education for the training of teachers.

Lagos state government is, the owners of the two teacher training colleges in the state; Adeniran College of Education, Oto-Ijanikin (AOCOED) and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), Epe.

Speaking with Daily Independent, Comrade Labaika challenged the expediency of the two colleges of education that train teachers that are not given jobs to fill existing vacancies in schools across the state.

Emphasising the gross imbalance  the imbalance in the teacher-student ratio in public schools in the state, he argued that presently the primary school education sector would soon be left bare without teachers if the estimated 70 per cent of the workforce that have retired or preparing to retire do so.
