The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s annual Convention has come of age. It has become a spiritual tree where Church faithful and friends of the ministry gather annually for transformation, spiritual impartation, prayers, and revival.
Although many see it as a veritable platform for brisk business at the one week Convention, which began Monday, 3 August 2015, the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye seeks to use the occasion to ordain some ministers who will be deployed in the vineyard of the Lord and to also edify the Church.
Indeed, the 2015 Convention represents different strokes for different folks. To many ministers of the gospel of the church from around the globe who have converged with the General Overseer, Pastor Adeboye, it is a time of reckoning. It is expected that while some will receive some pats at their back, others will definitely receive some form of knocks to challenge and motivate them to do more for God.
In the words of the Assistant Pastor-in-charge of Province Corporate Social Responsibility, Lagos Province 1, Pastor Samuel Olaniyan, the 63rd Convention promises a great deal for the nation, the church of God and individuals who sincerely seek after God as they would have their expectations and needs met by the All Sufficient God.
Speaking recently with journalists on behalf of Pastor Adeboye, Olaniyan shed some light on the annual spiritual festival of the church, saying that
“The Convention is a meeting of the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s family. It’s an annual convention whereby all sons and daughters of the RCCG, pastors, missionaries, and elders from all over the world meet to celebrate and thank God.”
According to him, “It is also a time of revival of revival, a time of teaching, learning, a time to hear progress report about the church – where we were last year and where we are today. It is equally a time to have fellowship together to meet to share so many things. It’s also a time when ordination takes place.”
“The annual event also affords our father in the Lord and the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye would ordain various ministers: deacons, deaconesses, assistant pastors and full pastors. So, it is an annual meeting to discuss everything we want to discuss as a family.”
As the Convention enters its third day today, with members of the church and the public daily thronging the sprawling Camp, the assistant pastor assured both guests, visitors and members that adequate security arrangements and logistics had been put in place for their convenience, safety as well as their property in order for them to enjoy their stay with God while in camp.
Speaking further, Olaniyan, who is also the Pastor-in-charge of the Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, stated that the theme of the Convention “All sufficient God” is suggestive of what people should expect at the meeting which closes on Sunday, 9 August 2015, with a thanksgiving.
The gospel preacher, who drew a line of difference between the annual convention and the Holy Ghost Congress said, “God is there. He is more than enough, He is more than sufficient to meet our needs. What is more important is our mindset toward God. Are we ready for Him or are we still operating under self government? Whoever does that may not have the benefit or full blessing of the All-Sufficient One.”
Olaniyan appealed to the participants to be prayerful while in camp, which he said would also feature teaching and healing so they don’t return home empty.
