Edo State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is presently in disarray as two “combatants” are at daggers drawn on who controls the affairs of the body.
Leading one camp is Henry Legemah while the opposing camp is led by Osagie Elegbe.
And the bone of contention is allegations on the state of the body’s finance. While Legemah is alleging that the guild’s money has developed wings.
Elegbe’s contention is that Legemah is only showing sour grapes because he has not been allowed to have his way as regards the affairs of the guild. Elegbe’s camp is saying that Legemah is annoyed that his ambition of calling the shots and to dictate who gets what has been checkmated.
But as it is right now, it seems Legemah is having an upper hand as he has succeeded in suspending Elegbe from his position as the chairman of the guild.
The case is now in the court as it has taken a legal dimension. What is baffling to movie buffs in the acclaimed Heartbeat State is that as the centre cannot hold in the guild the “combatants” keep mentioning the name of the guild’s national president, Ibinabo Fiberesima.
One camp has the feeling that she is the one fuelling the crisis while the other camp thinks otherwise.
Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendant of Police (ASP), a film produced by Osagie Elegbe enjoyed rave review when it was premiered recently at the Nollywood Cinema, Benin City.
Top on the list of those who witnessed the event was Solomon Iyobosa Edebiri, the then governorship candidate of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples
Party (ANPP), in the 2012 polls in Edo State.
The movie parades top stars like Vincent Opurum, Fred Ariko and Ofia Mbaka among others.
