Stomach ulcers and constipation are daily occurrence among people regardless of age and sex and sometimes too, some of those who suffer the condition can be diabetic and making treatment options for the ulcer and constipation a challenge.
It is as a result of this that a leading local drug manufacturer, Fidson Healthcare Plc, has introduced sugar, salt-free antacid, to meet the needs of people with diabetes, constipation and ulcer.
Speaking at the presentation of the sugar-free antacid, Gascol, in Lagos, General Manager, Ola Ijimakin, explained that the drug provides more rapid and sustained symptom relief than the conventional antacids already in the market.
Typically, individuals with a stomach ulcer feel a burning pain that may be present anywhere in the abdominal region.
An empty stomach may aggravate the pain, and it may be more intense during night time. The burning sensation may last for hours at a time.
Other symptoms associated with stomach ulcers include gas, nausea and loss of appetite.
According to the Marketing Manager, Friday Enaholo, the new variant of the antacid has Magaldrate USP formulation to provide coating effect due to supplementary non antacid ingredients in the suspension.
Health experts explained that Magaldrate USP, a unique combination of Aluminium and Magnesium Hydroxides, has rapid onset of action and a large Acid Neutralizing Capacity (ANC), Simethicone USP, a potent de-flatulent that prevents gas accumulation in the gut.
