The Bishop of Akoko Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Rt. Revd. Gabriel Akinbiyi, has charged clergy men to flee from lust and every appearance of  immorality, noting that such sins have capacity to ruin their ministry.

He said this recently at the induction of two new archdeacons to Irun Akoko and Akoko South East archdeaconries, both in Akoko, Ondo State.

The archdeacons are Venerables Abiodun Olawuwo Olusakin and Fredrick Ajayi Adaramola.

The Bishop who took his sermon from 2 Timothy 2:22-24 advised them to flee from every youthful lust noting that lust has the capacity to ruin their ministry. He then urged them to be strong and be filled with the power of God to declare the word of God without fear.

While urging them to pursue righteousness, love, faith and peace, he said, “the time has come for those who call on the name of the Lord to be pure in heart. You should be strong in the Lord in the grace that is in Christ and not rely on your own power”

Akinbiyi also used the opportunity to appeal to the clerics not to be like Nigerian politician whom he described as “liars and deceivers.”

He used the platform to call on government to make its priority right and attend to the infrastructural needs of the people. “Government should make the needs of the people a priority. Government should look into the welfare of the common man.
