If you were not at the highly publicised Bovi’s ‘Man on Fire’ concert, then you must have missed what many regard as the most exhilarating show of the year. As usual, Cecil Hammond, the CEO of Flytime Entertainment, pulled another string with the concert, which had American superstars, Ja Rule and Ashanti, performing to the excitement of teeming fans. It was Ashanti and Ja rule’s first performance together in seven years. The show, which held on Friday October 3, at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suite, had comedian, Basketmouth, as the host.
“It was more of a comedy show than a music concert. Many people didn’t expect Bovi to do what he did that night. I knew what I wanted and I had him groom himself for a non-stop comedy show that lasted for over one hour. I did put in my best for this and I look forward to doing something bigger than this soon.
“We are all used to having several comedians and music stars gracing the stage in one night, but for me, it’s becoming boring. I am building new concepts and I am glad people like it,” Cecil said.
Speaking further, he said: “I have received a lot of messages and calls that it was a brilliant show. I couldn’t have done it alone without the team at Flytime Entertainment and, of course, Bovi’s commitment.
“We did put a lot of efforts in the lighting, set design, sound, event coordination, etc, and that really worked for us. It not about the money I spent, but the end result”.
Cecil Hammond is about the biggest name in music promotion in Nigeria. The young, humble, hard working entrepreneur started music promotions over 10 years ago. He has hosted some of the biggest shows in Nigeria and likes what Tiwa Savage, Davido and Sheyi Shay are today.
In December 2014, he will be hosting three mega concerts, including Rhythm Unplugged 2014, M1 album launch and the much anticipated Mavin All Star Concert.
“December is going to be a very busy month for us at Flytime. It has been like that over the years and we don’t intend to stop, because, our annual concerts have become a culture to music lovers.
“The annual Rhythm Unplugged will surely hold and we are also putting together MI album launch in December.
Also is the Mavin All Stars, which is going to be a big concert with a lot of surprises, he added.
