A group of Christian Ministers drawn from different denominations have come together to form a group known as Patriotic Prayer Support Group (PPSG) with a view to seeking solutions to Nigeria’s problems through their intercessory prayers.

The group’s inaugural prayer meeting, which was held at Life Theological Seminary in Ikorodu area of Lagos last Thursday, set the tone for members understand the enormous tasks they must undertake for their dear country.

Charging the group, the host and the Provost of Life Theological Seminary, Rev. Cletus Orgu, urged each member to brace up, put behind individual motives and work sacrificially towards a better Nigeria that all and sundry will be proud off. He reminded the group that the assignment they were embarking on was a task that had spiritual backing. Rev Orgu pointed out that believers must always pray for all men and the King.

‘’We are making sacrifice to pray for ourselves, our nation and His kingdom so that God purpose would be fulfilled. I want us to take this responsibility seriously and I am sure that our Lord will surely guide us,’’ the cleric charged.

Shedding light on reasons the group came to be, the Coordinator, Pastor AyodejiOlulani, said that it was impossible for them to stay silent in the face of rots that had engulfed the country. He said that the group was non-partisan but a gathering of individuals that believe in supporting the nation and the leaders with prayers so that good judgment, right decision and better programmes would be implemented for the citizens. He assured that members are men of convictions, men of faith and action that have been called to penetrate and preserve a culture based on Christian principles.

According to Olulani, “PPSG is a voluntary non-partisan forum for committed ministers of the gospel across Christian denominations in Nigeria.” He therefore called for devoted men of God to join in the efforts to rescue our nation from the jaws of crisis that has forced her to a standstill.

‘’We are spiritual leaders, we are not sponsored by anybody or group and we are neither ethnic nor politically motivated. We must have it as a challenge in our private devotions, in our various assemblies and areas of influence to offer specific prayers for our leaders in public office. We cannot afford to be disconnected from governance. So, our collective weapon is to offer constant prayers for all acts and decisions of our leaders so that they will pilot our country to a better future,’’ he hinted.
