The Osun State House of Assembly has vowed to key into the anti-corruption crusade of the present All Progressives Congress-led administration.

In line with this, the House has passed the procurement bill into law as part of the measures to entrench the anti-corruption crusade in the state.

A statement issued by Goke Butikakuro, the media aide to the Speaker of the Assembly, said, when the law is signed by Governor Rauf Aregbesola, it would drive the process of contract award, purchasing activities of government and other state transactions.

The House of Assembly said it would assist in the anti-corruption drive with its oversight functions, promising to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks capable of slowing development and reducing institutions to redundancy.

According to the statement, “The state parliament has taken the first leg of its anti-corruption crusade through the passage of procurement bill into law.

“The State Assembly wants to assure that the relief package given to the state would be judiciously administered for the purpose meant for. All genuine workers would soon have their outstanding salaries defrayed, while the work-in-progress public infrastructure would not be left unattended to.

“The parliament would obtain the report of ongoing workers’ audit and frisk it in order to be updated on the actual numerical strength of the workforce of the state, with a view to giving rough tackles to the would-be manipulators of the process.”
