In this interview with Asst. Editor, Life, Temitope David Adegboye, Omowunmi Akinifesi talks about her style and beauty routine.
Are you a trend follower?
No, I don’t follow trend. I am more of a classic person. I am a little traditional in modern ways. I wear trendy things but I don’t necessarily follow trend because I know that the trend would be out of style by next month. So there is no point investing in such item when you know that in the next few months it would be outdated. When something is in vogue, I don’t wear it because it will look like I made so much effort to get it and wear it just to say that I am around. No. But when you wear things that are timeless, you look fantastic so when they see you, they won’t understand why you look so good.
Who makes your clothes?
I have worked with so many designers in the past, but of recent, I haven’t had any Nigerian designer designing for me. But now that I am back, definitely if you ask me this question next few weeks I will tell you all my wonderful friends, but I have too many people that designs for me.
Are you a designer freak?
Not really, but yes again, because I have a lot of things that are not designer, and at the same time I have many things that are designer. I must confess I love designer wears but I am very classic.
I am very vintage in the designer things. For instance, the things I have from Channel are very vintage. So, that’s where my craze for
designer things comes up.
How best do you like to dress?
Very simple, elegant and sophisticated; that’s my style. I don’t wear so many things. I wear outfit; I don’t like the outfit to wear me. I make sure my personality shines through what I am wearing, so when I am overloaded, I don’t look good because my beauty is in my personality. If I smile when I am wearing so many things, you may not even notice my smile. You will just be looking on my physical. But my charm and grace all form my beauty, and it forms into what I wear. So, I am very simple and classic
What’s your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is very easy. I have come to understand that I am a fashion addict. When you talk of colour, I have colours for different things. When I am wearing casuals, I like wearing bright colours like yellow or red. For my outfits, I like bright colours, primary colours; but for my furniture, I like olive or burnt orange. My furniture and bags, shoes are all different colours. So my favourite colour depends on the item.
What’s your best fashion accessory?
That’s a difficult one because you don’t wear one accessory at a time. You wear everything at the same time.
Can you count the number of your shoes?
No, I can’t count them.
What’s your beauty routine like?
I wash my face before I sleep at night. The rest is a secret. If I I tell you it won’t be a secret anymore.
What perfumes do like best?
I like Cocoa Channel and John Paul Coitia
Do you believe one has to reveal so much cleavage just to look sexy?
It depends on how everything is being put together so it doesn’t look too scandalous. I‘ve not really been a cleavage revealing person. If you look at the outfit I have put on in the past, I‘ve not left any cleavage at all. It’s really funny because I look back and I discover that almost everything is covered. But recently, I am more mature and style is becoming different and the country is really hot. You can leave cleavage but not too much. If it is too much it becomes indecent. There is nothing bad about it as long as it is decent.
